Ohio Export Internship Program
Preparing Tomorrow’s Export Leaders
Our team kicked off the summer with a meet-and-greet event at the Edgewater Yacht Club for the Ohio Export Internship Students. It was a good time for the students to socialize and network with their peers and support team. Each student is being hosted by a local company that has an international component to their business. By all accounts, every intern is performing exceptionally, and we can't wait to hear all the good work they accomplish this summer
If you are a student interested in the program, we will begin recruiting and interviewing this fall.
If you are a company interested in the program, we welcome you to apply to host an intern next summer.
GlobalTarget Export Accelerator
Turning Export Strategy into Action
In June, we concluded our 21st session of GlobalTarget with our latest graduates. We're excited to continue working closely with each of these companies and seeing how they apply the skills they learned through GlobalTarget.
Our program this year featured a host of guest speakers who shared their expertise on topics ranging from building a global sales pipeline to shipping goods internationally to global trade, government, and law.
If you are interested in strategically growing your business through international markets, this is the program for you. Look out for the application to open again this fall.
Company Tours with Legislators
Connecting Business Leaders and Policymakers
On June 5th we connected two Ohio legislators with some of our local businesses. Ohio State Representative Tristan Rader and US Senator John Husted's Regional Director Mary Kate Hastings toured TLC Products in Westlake and NOSHOK in Berea. Both companies were gracious hosts, completely blew us away with their presentations & tours, and shared the importance of the international components of their business. In both cases, the value that economic development centers like ours have provided them have directly contributed to their growth and success.
We are planning to coordinate more of these meetings, and if you would be interested in hosting your local representatives, please contact us.
SBA Exporter of the Year
Recognizing Export Excellence
We would like to extend a big congratulations to Lou and Kim DeCuzzi of DRR USA for winning the Great Lakes Regional Small Business Exporter of the Year award from the Small Business Administration. The DRR team was honored in Columbus for this distinction, and we couldn't be prouder of the work they have done to achieve it.
DRR USA is the world leader in manufacturing electric ATVs. They have been embraced by international vineyards, farms, and eco-tourism businesses for their zero carbon emissions and quiet operation.
Federal Reserve Small Business Symposium
Exploring AI Solutions for
Global Business
Nate Ward, Director of the Global Business Center at CSU, was invited by the Federal Reserve to contribute to an AI panel discussion at their Small Business Symposium in Cleveland this June. Nate had the opportunity to talk about the projects our center have been working on with the help of AI, including a duty calculator to assist our clients with navigating all the rapid changes in tariff rates. Our center has employed an information systems graduate assistant this year to specifically help businesses with AI and technical requests.
If you are interested in beta testing our duty calculator or could use some technical assistance, contact our center.
