Letter from the Director

Year to date, our statewide export assistance network has helped more than 140 Ohio companies with their export challenges and opportunities, resulting in $1.4 in export sales growth! At the end of January, we sent eight companies to exhibit in the Ohio booth at the Arab Health 2024 trade show in Dubai. One of our Cleveland-area participants told me they'd received 140 new business contacts from the show!

Our internship program is moving into host company evaluation mode. Across the state we're looking to match about 60 companies to our interns. It's not too late if you want to inquire about possibly hosting one of our dynamic students. Contacts us ASAP if you'd like to learn more.

My regular trips to Toledo have been productive, with a speaking engagement last month at NOMA. We hope to release more information soon on a Fall cohort for Export Success, the export accelerator program of Northwest Ohio.

3-Day Global Business Bootcamp - Register Now!

GlobalTarget - Program Highlights

Our 2023-2024 cohort of businesses in our GlobalTarget program hit the half-way milestone last month. Each company's support team presented their assigned company a suggested strategic global business expansion plan, which combines a customized market research and their mentors' recommendations on how to enter or manage select global markets. Now each company will take that report and begin constructing their 1-5 year international strategy which they'll present to our mentor panel in May.

GlobalTarget membership provides a low-cost, interactive method to extend a company’s international resources to build an effective global strategy. Companies will gain the skills they need to manage global markets.

Canton SCORE Presents: FREE Export 101 Webinar

Join us on Tuesday, March 12th from Noon - 1:00pm for this FREE webinar that will provide a foundational overview of exporting. We will cover topics such as: understanding international trade, market research & analysis, and currency & payment terms. Our own Chris Lees will present along other trade advisors.

Japan Business Matchmaking

Midwest US-Japan Association Conference

Ohio will be hosting the Midwest US-Japan Association’s annual conference in September 2024. The governor and legislative leadership of our Japanese sister state Saitama will be in attendance, along with several companies looking to do business in Ohio. Any Ohio companies looking for possible matchmaking services should contact us about this opportunity. Companies in advanced manufacturing in particular are encouraged to apply.

Aerospace Trade Mission to Canada

The Ohio Aerospace Institute will lead a delegation of Ohio companies in the aerospace sector to the largest gathering of international aerospace decision-makers in Canada this May.

The Ohio Aerospace Institute has secured discounts for Ohio companies that wish to attend and/or exhibit. A portion of the cost may be reimbursable through the Ohio IMAGE grant.

Trade Mission to Brazil and Chile

Are you looking to grow your export sales? Join GSGP's trade mission to São Paulo, Brazil, and Santiago, Chile, from June 8-14, 2024. All participants will receive a customized, B2B meeting schedule with potential distributors, buyers and joint venture partners.

Participants will benefit from market sector briefings, networking events and logistical support.

Eligible Ohio companies may apply for an IMAGE grant to offset costs by 50%

NASBITE International, the association behind the Certified Global Business Professional certification, is hosting its Annual Conference at the Sahara Las Vegas from April 9-11, 2024.  Registrants not only share and learn from the many sessions offered on all aspects of global business, but also have the opportunity to network with peers, hear about best practices in trade education and trade assistance, and discover new skills and approaches in export development and marketing. Opportunities for students to participate in a Student Case Competition. Conference is open to students, educators, private industry, and government trade promotion professionals.
